The “Twinnie Mitchells” / Mitchell Twins:
Twin brothers Andrew & William MITCHELL were born in Mar 1859. They spent their whole lives together.
They went to school together, sitting next to each other.
They dressed alike, worked the same farm together for 56 years.
They remained bachelors and retired to the same cottage in Porthleven doing their own cooking and washing.
In 1939 they were living at 2 Wellington Road. Andrew MITCHELL died, aged 81 in 1940.
The “Twinnies” were the babies of a large family of 10 children of
Francis MITCHELL born 1917 Mawgan, died 1895
& Eliza MICHELL nee DODGE born 1815 Weymouth, Dorset died 1900.
Their ten children were:
Joseph 1843, John James 1846, Thomas Henry 1848, (Francis) Charles 1849,
Sarah Ann 1851, Eliza 1853, Mary 1856, Jesse 1857
and then the twins Andrew & William 1859.
